Fayetteville is the 2nd most populous city in Arkansas, the county seat of Washington County, and the most populous city in Northwest Arkansas. The city is on the outskirts of the Boston Mountains, deep within the Ozarks. Known as Washington until 1829, the city was named after Fayetteville, Tennessee, from which many of the settlers had come. It was incorporated on November 3, 1836, and was rechartered in 1867. Walton Arts Center is the biggest and most popular venue for performing arts and entertainment in Arkansas. It is a non-profit organization that hosts an entire season of exciting events, including Broadway shows, dance performances, theater plays, music concerts, jazz, and family-friendly shows. The venue consists of three main performance spaces, namely Baum Walker Hall, which is a 1200-seat proscenium stage theater, Starr Theater, which is a 200-seat black-box theater, and Studio Theater, which is a multipurpose black box theater located at Nadine Baum Studios.Over the years, Walton Arts Center has successfully organized 5 national tours, including popular shows like The Graduate starring Morgan Fairchild, A Chorus Line, The Music Man, Blast, and Aida.
