Special Olympics Arkansas, Northwest Arkansas Board of Realtors, Support Special Olympics

Since 1986 REALTORS® across Arkansas have been supporting Special Olympics Arkansas. Arkansas Board of REALTORS® has helped raise over $2,000,000 for Special Olympics Arkansas.

Special Olympics Arkansas is a non-profit organization, providing approximately 15,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to excel and 5,000 volunteers in all counties across the State of Arkansas.

“Special Olympics Arkansas is an organization that unleashes the human spirit through the power and joy of sport, everyday around the state.” - NWA Board of REALTORS

Through programming in sports, health, education and community building, Special Olympics Arkansas is changing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities, and improving community quality of life.

Originating in 1970, Arkansas held its first Summer Games with 283 athletes competing in various track and field events. It has grown to a competition program for athletes wanting to train and compete in athletics, aquatics, softball, volleyball, unified football, powerlifting, bocce, cycling, basketball, bowling, ice speed and figure skating, floor hockey and gymnastics.

Special Olympians are successful athletes, they receive excellent training through the program with access to the finest national training plan ever.

The mission of Special Olympics Arkansas is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Through the program they receive continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

“The success of Special Olympics Arkansas has been made possible by the love and dedication of many volunteers who know that individuals with intellectual disabilities have important contributions to make to society.” - Special Olympics Arkansas
